Last week some of our team members at Fairwinds Management Limited attended the much-awaited DELTA Summit; Malta’s leading blockchain and digital innovation summit that was attended by over 4,000 people interested in the blockchain and crypto world as well as others working actively in the fintech industry.

This Summit which will now be an annual event following this year’s success during its first edition, brought together all local regulators and some large well-known international companies under one roof. This made it easier for attendees to get all the information that they required during the days of the summit. This also allowed for some networking and meeting potential collaborators and clients.

During the days of the highly attended DELTA Summit, Malta was given a lot of credit and was acknowledged for all the work it has done in the past year during which Malta gave birth to the first DLT Regulation.

In relation to this, the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Joseph Muscat who addressed the attendees during his keynote speech stated that Malta is “both the first and best, not only in Europe where we wanted to be, but also in the world”.

The Junior Minister responsible for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, Hon. Silvio Schembri was also one of the Members of Parliament who addressed the audience. Apart from referring to the three Acts that were published last July, he referred to how businesses are now eager to start exploring digitalisation and how the organisation of this Summit, thanks to Dr. Abdalla Kablan, the Executive Chairman of DELTA Summit, passes on a strong message that one cannot stop change but we must embrace technology. He also mentioned how in the coming years, Malta will be having its first graduates in the area of blockchain as last week the University of Malta welcomed its first students who opted to start reading a Degree in Blockchain.

Following the busy days attending this Summit and meeting all exhibitors, our team members are looking forward to attending more events in Malta related to blockchain and iGaming in the next few weeks!
